• Al-Khalidi: Agricultural Services Company increases the efficiency of the sector, both productively and commercially

    The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Asharqia Chamber, Abdul Hakim bin Hamad Al-Ammar Al-Khalidi, praised the decision of the Council of Ministers that was issued on August 7, 2018, in a series of other ministerial decisions, to establish a government company to provide agricultural services with a capital of SR 2 billion.

    He stressed that the decision supports the development of the agricultural sector in the Kingdom and increases its growth and efficiency of production, manufacturing and marketing, and is in line with the objectives of the vision of the Kingdom 2030.

    The Vision of 2030 hopes to achieve national food security by increasing local production, on the basis of sustainability and balance between the comparative advantages of agricultural areas, as well as it encourages the business sector to invest in agricultural fields of all kinds and activities associated with them.

     

    He commended the role played by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman in supporting the Kingdom's agricultural sector in order to develop it into a balanced and sustainable sector, as it is a sector with an important economic roles that has several health, social and security dimensions.

     

    Al-Khalidi pointed out that the agricultural sector in the Kingdom is one of the important tributaries of the national economy as it provides about 30% of the total food for domestic consumption.

    The launch of a government company to provide agricultural services will increase productivity, raise the volume of sales and improve the conditions of marketing products on the one hand, and on the other, it contributes to the focus of the efforts of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture through the transfer of operations and management of assets and services from the Ministry to this company, which is generally reflected on the sector and the pace of growth.

     

    He pointed out that the Kingdom is taking serious steps within the tracks set by Vision 2030 to reshape the national economy according to the options of diversification and optimal utilization of available resources.​
